Wadad Wazen Gergy holds a master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering (ESIB – USJ) and a degree in Innovative Teaching Approaches from the Faculty of Educational Sciences (Fsedu) at Saint-Joseph University of Beirut.
She is director of the New Educational Technologies unit (UNTE) at Saint-Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) since 2016. She is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of educational technology in support of advancing the university’s teaching and learning mission. Techno-pedagogical expert at the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie engaged in the project entitled "Acceleration of the Digital Transition of Higher education in the Middle East" within the framework of the Solidarity Fund for Innovative Projects since 2020. Wadad was appointed in 2022 by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon as a member-expert consultant in the specialized committee for online education.
In 2008, Wadad got involved in instructional design, online course development and e-learning web services. In 2010, she started developing and delivering several instructional technology related trainings to support teacher’s use of technology. Since 2015, she delivers international talks on techno-pedagogical innovation and participates in regional developmental projects.
During the COVID-19 crisis, Wadad was appointed coordinator of the Commission for the development of logistical and pedagogical tools for teaching online that designed the Guide for Distance Education at USJ.
Her guiding philosophy in this work is to amplify experience with technology by valuing beliefs and generating an environment where staff and students can contribute their skills, abilities, and personal qualities.
Areas of particular interest include support for Accessibility and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion through intentional uses of educational technology in teaching, and the field of data analytics and learning insights.
