Zoom Tutorial for Teachers

Attention: We recommend that you update Zoom to the latest version offered by the application

Zoom Video Communications provides remote conferencing services using cloud computing. Zoom offers communications software that combines video conferencing, online meetings, chat, and mobile collaboration.

CREATE AN ACCOUNT

  1. Open a browser and navigate to zoom.us
  2. Click on “REGISTER, IT’S FREE”,
  3. Enter your email and click on “Register”
    You will receive a validation email, click on the link to continue.
  1. Enter your first and last name.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Click on the “Continue” button

SETTINGS AND LAUNCHING AN ONLINE SESSION

If you haven't installed the ZOOM app yet, go to zoom.us and select “Host a Meeting (Host a Meeting)” to start the installation.

Once the ZOOM application is installed, launch it 

  1. Click on “Meetings”
  2. Click on “Edit”
  3. Enter a password (Be sure to change this password for each new session).
  4. Determine if you want to start the session with video for you and/or for your participants.
  5. In “Advanced Options” make your choices
    Be careful to check the box “Automatically record meeting on the local computer” if you want to record your session to make it available to students who were unable to attend the live session

Do not forget to click on the “Save” button

INVITE OTHERS TO JOIN

  1. Click on “Meetings”.
  2. Click on “Copy invitation” to copy the invitation.
    Send the invitation by email to your students by copying the content of the invitation. If you use Moodle.USJ, you can send the invitation link by posting a message in the forum “Announcement”
  3. Click on “Start” to launch the session.

JOIN A SESSION

  • Click on the link you received in the invitation.

If this is your first time using Zoom, you will be prompted to download the app. Follow the instructions

  1. Save the Execution file (.Exe) by clicking on “Save File”
  1. Launch the installation.
  1. Enter your name and click on “Join Meeting”
